Registration for ICs Day is now officially open!

This year, COMCOL teamed up with the International Committee for Documentation (ICOM DOCUMENTATION, formerly CIDOC) and the International Committee for Social Museology (SOMUS) and prepared an International Committee day under the motto “Changing the Rules: Imagining New Practices”.

Together, our three committees are challenging traditional discourses to meet the needs of society. Social Museology speaks of respecting and valuing differences in the recognition that groups have different ways of musealizing and conceiving museums, multiple ways of expressing memory desires, and different methods for promoting the diversity of museums and collections. Both DOCUMENTATION and COMCOL have been rethinking the practices of collecting and documenting to address these issues and allow for a dynamic approach.

During our day, we will visit The Museum of Islamic Civilization, one of the museums of the Sharjah Museum Authority. We will meet each other’s members and local museum professionals to exchange, be inspired, and learn.
